Transition Maker 2 Tutorial - Section 2 Install, Register and Review the Main Menu
You have the downloaded package and are ready to install it. If you're familiar with installing Windows software, this one will be normal to you. You won't need to close Movie Maker or reboot your computer. Just do the installation and start using Transition Maker 2.
If it's the purchased full version, you'll need the registration key to remove the trial version's 7 day restriction and watermarking.
Once registered, future versions can be downloaded and installed without obtaining a new registration code.

2 - Install Transition Maker 2
A • Run the downloaded software package and let it install itself to the default location. It'll create a new c:\Program Files\TransitionMaker2 folder and install itself there.
There will be a number of files and subfolders included in the installation, including folders and files for some sample projects.
You'll be creating your own subfolders there also, as you create your projects... actually TM2 will be creating the subfolders for you.
You don't need to close MM2 during the installation, or reboot your computer afterwards. You might accept the option of starting TM2 as soon as the installation is finished.
You can use Movie Maker 2 and Transition Maker 2 at the same time. They work independently of each other until you're ready to publish a set of transitions.
B • If you purchased the full version and have the registration info, you can do it now.
Registering removes the 7 day limit and the transition watermarking that the trial version includes. Use Menu > Register TM2... and add the required info.
C • the Main Menu
The main menu is your starting point for TM2. It'll remain open until you close it by clicking on the little X in the upper right corner. As a utility, you won't be able to resize the window or maximize/minimize it.
the buttons on the menu
Create/Open Project - Creating a project requires you to simply give the project a name. Shorter is better as the project name is automatically used as the prefix for all of the transitions in the project.
Thinking ahead, if the collection in Movie Maker 2 shows all the transitions in alphabetical order, and you want your personal transitions to be high on the list, then the lower the starting character in the project name, the better.
Use the button to also open a current project (each project is a subfolder under the TransitionMaker2 program folder).
Transition Editors - this opens another window for the Transition Editor, where you will create your custom transitions.
Project Editor - this opens another window for the Project Editor, with the currently active project in it. This is where you'll package sets of custom transitions.
Publish/Unpublish - use this button to 'publish' a project (a set of transitions) to Movie Maker 2, or to 'unpublish' a set you're not actively using.
It's a good idea to publish and unpublish projects when Movie Maker 2 is closed. There isn't a conflict between them, but if you don't restart Movie Maker after publishing a set of transitions, you won't see them in Movie Maker.
Tutorial - this is a local copy of the tutorial for use when you're not online... the online version will be the most up-to-date.
